The future of the cruise industry

by Melissa & Richard Terris

All you can eat buffets, ice skating, rock climbing, saunas, spas, and zip lining, where is this magical place? Aboard a cruise ship.

These are just a few of the marvelous amenities that can be found on-board cruise ships. However, with the worldwide coronavirus pandemic the cruise ship industry has been devastated similar to the airline industry.

As the outbreak grew the cruise line industry suspended all operations. According to the CDC, they recommend that travelers defer all cruise travel worldwide.

We’re not sure what’s going to happen in future; will this be the end of the cruise line industry, or will it return to normal after a vaccine is created? That’s the question that probably no one can answer right now. At present, it does seem like cruises will resume when it’s safe to do so, but will people go on them?

When cruises open up again, it’s equally as possible that fares will be lower and with numbers of passengers being reduced, it may create a demand again.

Do you think you’ll go on a cruise when this is all over? Leave us a comment in the comments section to tell us what you think.
